Participant Information

All participants must pick up their pre-paid participation credentials at the credential office prior to participation.  This must be done in person.  It can be done anytime the office is open prior to your event.  Please bring identifying documents to verify you are a first responder. (Dept ID Card, Payroll stub with Drivers License etc…   A Badge will not qualify as an identifying document)   The credential office is open from 7 am til 5pm from May 31st til June 12th.  There will be an additional fee for participants that do not register before May 15th.  

Participants will not be allowed to participate without proper credentials on their person at the time of event.   No other person except the registered participant may pick up their credentials, please don’t ask – no exceptions – get your own credentials!!

Event Rules

3 v 3 Basketball Rule Changes for 2027:

Overtime is 3 minutes

2 time outs per half

Game limit is 60 points – Have to win by 4 or if time expires

Mercy Rule initiated:

Game over if:

lead is 30 points at half

lead is 20 points with 10 minutes or less

 No need to check the ball to start possession after 1st inbounds of each half.  Play quickly

At change of possession off missed shot, one foot OR the ball must get behind 3 point line to begin basket attack

3 v 3 Basketball Complete set of Rules

 Scorekeeper/Timekeeper: One shall be assigned to each game. The scorekeeper works under the direction of the referees.

Credentials Official: This person works under the supervision of the Sports Coordinator, and is responsible for verifying that each player in each game is properly credentialed (competitor pass).  If multiple venues are utilized, one Credentials Official must be assigned to each venue.

 Referees: Two (2) referees shall be assigned to each medal game. One referee for every preliminary game. Referees must be provided a copy of, and be familiar with the FRS 3×3 rules.

 A Protest Committee consisting of the event coordinator, a neutral third party coach, and a member of the executive staff shall be assembled on matters regarding protests.  The decision rendered by this committee is final

 PERSONNEL
Check-in table workers:  one (1) person to work the competitor check-in table located at each venue each day of competition.  They work under the direct supervision of the Credentials official.

FACILITY
The facility should be a standard size gymnasium with the appropriate markings and 3 point lines.

SCHEDULING
A captains briefing may be held prior to the event will explain the rules and regulations, and pertinent information for the event.

GENERAL INFORMATION
Seven (7) man rosters.  For Co-Ed, 2 of the roster personnel must be female and at least one female must be on the court at all times. Visual clocks and scoreboards at all games. Brackets will be determined by the number of entries – but 3 games are guaranteed.   Qualified registered officials using high school rules with the following exceptions:

POSSESSION: To start the game to be determined by coin flip. Teams must have three (3) players to start, but can continue the game with two (2). A forfeit will occur if the team is reduced to one (1) player. A mark will be placed on the floor no less than three (3) feet above the top of the key to start the play after dead balls. The offensive team must initiate play with a pass. A three (3) point line on the perimeter of the court approximately twenty (20) feet from the basket is mandatory.

CHANGE OF POSSESSION: If the possession of the ball changes teams, one foot OR the ball must get behind 3 point line to begin basket attack. If a defensive player scores a goal or a goal is scored without possession of the ball, the goal shall be scored to the team that last had possession of the ball behind the 3-point line. No need to check the ball to start possession after 1st inbounds of each half —  Play quickly

TIME: Twenty minute halves with running clock. The clock will stop for all time outs throughout play and the last two (2) minutes of each half for dead balls. Two (2) full time outs per half.  Any unused 2nd half time outs may be carried over into the overtime period. Halftime to be ten (10) minutes maximum.

GAME LIMIT: Game limit is 60 points – Have to win by 4 or if time expires

Mercy Rule:  Game is over if:

The lead is 30 points at half

The lead is 20 points with 10 minutes or less

FOULS: Six (6) personal fouls per game. First six (6) team fouls in half results in ball out of bounds unless in act of shooting.

OVERTIME: First possession determined by coin flip. Three (3) minute overtime with running time. The clock will stop for all time outs, dead balls and the last one minute of overtime play.  One (1) additional 20 second time out awarded for overtime
