Event Rules
2024 Tournament Rules and Bracketing:
ALL Divisions
This year’s games will have a 5-game guarantee. All teams will play each other once in the round robin. Points will be as follows: 1 point per period, 2 points for a win, 1 point for a tie. No points will be awarded for any period that ends in a tie. Max points per game is 5. After all teams have played their 4 round robin games the first and second seed teams will play in the Gold/Silver medal game. The third and fourth seed teams will play for the Bronze medal. The fifth-place teams will play a consolation game. This will give all teams 5 total games.
There is no overtime or shootout during round robin play.
If a tie in final standings needs to be broken to determine seeding the following tiebreakers will be used:
- Head-to-Head
- +/- Capped at 5
- Goals against
- Goals for
- Penalty Minutes
If any medal game ends as a tie after regulation, there will be 5-minute sudden death overtime. If still tied there will be a 3-round shootout. If still tied it will go to a sudden death shootout.
All games will be played under current USA hockey rules. These are the same rules used in every adult league in Florida. Players are not required to wear a cage or shield; however, eye protection is highly recommended.
UNIFORMS
All teams are required to have matching uniforms with numbers. Numbers are to be assigned to the same player for the duration of the tournament.
ATTENDANCE
All players are required to check in with their photo ID as well as their games ID before EACH game! Any player attempting to play without checking in will result in an automatic forfeit for the team for that game as well as the team being suspended for the remainder of the tournament! The player AND team Capt will be suspended indefinitely.
PLAYING RULES
1.) All teams will be allowed 1 (30 second) time out each game.
2.) Teams will be allowed a 2-minute warm-up.
3.) Periods will be 13 minutes stop time. At any point the goal difference is 5, run time will start.
4.) Mercy Rule. Any game that reaches a 10-goal difference will end immediately.
5.) Overtime in medal games will be a 5-minute period. Run time for 4 minutes, stop time the final minute. Overtime will be played 4 on 4. If still tied after OT we’ll go to a 3-round shootout, then sudden death shootout afterwards.
6.) Any player receiving 4 penalties in a game will receive a game ejection from that game.
7.) Any major penalty will incur a game misconduct and possible tournament suspension.
8.) We are playing Body Contact rules. Penalties for checking will be 2/10 for the first infraction and 5/game and tournament suspension for the second infraction in the same game.
9.) Fighting (dropping the gloves and engaging in fisticuffs) will not be tolerated and will result in an automatic ejection from the game and suspension from the following game, as well as suspension from next year’s tournament. Further disciplinary restrictions will come from the recommendations of the tournament coordinators.
10.) Penalties will carry over into overtime. If the game continues into a shootout, only players who have been assessed a misconduct penalty will not participate in the shootout.
Good luck and have a great tournament!
